Adventure Girl

For a while each night as I would tuck Emma in bed she would say, "mommy in the morning when we wake up can you get me some water" or "something to eat". Lately thinks have taken a turn and she now says things like "mommy tomorrow when we wake up can we go to Africa" or Jungle Island. Sometimes when she wakes up we will be sitting at the table and she says "mommy let's get out of here!" And a couple times lately she's told me "mommy, this is the life". :)

Dear Audrey

This morning I said maybe you would come out looking like a Colombian. Emma said she thought you would come out like a Flower and Nelson's thinks you will come out like a little bird.

We can't wait to meet you!!!

Emma and Mommy try to do school at home a couple times each week. Emma's learnig her letter names and sounds, practicing cutting, coloring, and tracing!

Mathematics

Today I was teaching the nursery class (Emma and Nelson get to tag along, even though you're really too old for that class). We were sitting in the circle at the beginning of class when Emma informs me, "there are three girls, and two boys." Instantly she continued, "that makes five!" I was SO shocked that at three years old she would be able to think so complex all on her own!

You are such a bright one little bird! I love you. I love both of you inside and out!

Nelson Is 5 Today!

Yesterday we had a slip and slide party with your friends.
Today you ran errands with mommy, we went shopping with some of your birthday money, met up with Papi for lunch, window shopping at the pet store, and to get a chocolate chip cookie with a mango smoothie at Panera.

It was a joy to spend the day with you. As we walked down the side walk to the pet store I told you that I enjoyed the day with you and you told me it was a date! Of course that madey day even better! At Panera you mentioned the fact that we needed to plan our next date! To top everything off you wanted to buy and wear a "knight in shining armor" costume for the last half of the day! It was such a special day!
Now, you are five.

Summer Road-trip 2014

We headed to Arkansas for a family  reunion in Mt Ida, we stoped for two nights in South Carolina, one night in Jacksonville, Arkansas and had breakfast and road 4-wheelers with Gram, Papa, EK, and Bepa.
After several days on the road we, we stopped for lunch in Hot Springs
and finally arrived to Mt Ida.
Nelson was really excited to meet his cousins.
We enjoyed spending time with Nanny and Pawpaw in the mornings before everyone else woke up, playing in the lake, playing with baby Caden, and swimming in the pool.
After the Gann reunion we headed back to Little Rock for a few days with the Sorrells side of the family. Y'all love playing in Gram and Papa's backyard.
Papi preached at Papas church Sunday night. Bepa set up a water splash pad in the yard for you to play.
And we had egg la golden rod for breakfast!
Our next destination was Florida District Campmeetig in Ocala. On the way to Ocala we stoped in Pensacola for the night, went to the beach, and downtown for breakfast.
Finally we have made it home after almost 2 weeks of traveling.

School Days

Now that Nelson's in Kindergarten mommy and Emma have been doing school at home some mornings! You both always surprise me with the things you know! Today Emma just wrote the #9 and the #2 and identified them all on her own! I wanted to save a few pictures from our first "month" of kindergarten and

1st day of Kindergarten
Day 2
Emma loves to color
And does quite well I might add!
Nelson's "all about me form"
3 sentences using
3 sight words - I, can, like
Week 4 - write a conclusion for the story!
"He went home and found an acorn" - one of your favorite stories is "Adam and the Ant" it ends very similar. Look at that spelling after just 4 weeks of kindergarten! So proud of you!
"O" is for octopus!

Potty Talk

You both get a little carried away talking about "poopoo" and "peepee". So I've been explaining that we shouldn't talk about that or our body parts outside of the bathroom, or when it's just you and me in your room. So the other day Emma was reminding me of something she shouldn't say when the guys were around - only when it was just the two of us. Tonight at dinner Nelson decided he wanted to eat as much broccoli as he could. He was eatting a lot of broccoli and I began telling them that broccoli has ALOT of vitamins and is good for the stomach. As be continued eatting I added, "and it helps you go poopoo". They thought it was HILaRIOUs that O said "poopoo" at the table! Emma informed me that was just for the bathroom! Then she continued with her usual - every kind of poopoo she can think of game. It goes something like this, "broccoli poopoo, ewwww" (out of control laughter), "bread poopoo" (out of control giggles), and so on. It was pretty funny, and you didn't seek to care that I had said I was sorry, but loved the opportunity to get all of your "poopoo jokes" and "potty laughs" out!

A Big Day!

Today was Nelson's first day of school. As we left we heard Emma say something like "he's alright" as she walked away from the widow in the door. It was so sweet!

He told me the names of some of his friends. They had music class and he played something like a xylophone.

He said the worse part of the day was that "we forgot the lunch money at home" and he went into great detail explaining the process of buying your own lunch! :) He says he knows how to do it and REALLY wants to.

Since coming home the three of us have had a lot of fun singing, dancing, playing pirates and eatting! Oh, and you both watched "the pirates who don't do anything".

We also found out that you will be having a baby ... SISTER in Janurary!

Lost in Translation.

We are just leaving Spanish Camp 2014 in Ocala, Florida. Last night as they sang "Hay poder en el nombre Jesús - rompa cadenas, rompa cadenas, rompa cadenas" Emma said, "Mommy are they saying Bananas ... Bananas Smoothie?" I said No, they are saying "Rompa Cadenas" She said, "Rompa Bananas?"

Baby #3 Is On the Way!

So, we are expecting a new little baby in Janurary! I told you two first and we surprised Papi with the information when he came home one evening. You are both very excited and are ready for the baby to "come out". Nelson wants a boy and has named him Samuel. Emma wants a girl. Last night we were laying down together to sleep and Emma started rubbing my neck. She said she needed to rub my neck so the baby would come out!

Summer Fun!

You both play very well together and also fight very well together :)Thankfully you play together more than fighting! You've been enjoying the pool this summer

Monkey Monkey on My Leg ...

This little monkey found a home on Papi's leg. Papi had a little bit of a hard time making coffee this morning

Laughter a rolling!

We are on our summer vacation - we stoped in South Carolina for a day to rest and are now in Arkansas! We have had a good time and laughed quite abit! You kids are troopers and so much fun to travel with (as long as you're not fighting!) thankfully this trip has been very enjoyable! We just crossed over the Arkansas line a few minutes ago and me and your dad had this funny conversation, and I thought when you are older you may think its funny too!
Me: that's where they race groundhogs ... I mean greyhounds
Papi: what did you say?
Me: (laughing) groundhogs, but I mean greyhounds
Papi: THEY RACE THOSE?
Me: yes, that's why they have them for adoption
Papi: Oh, the dog ... I thought you ment the buses!

Nelson likes "necked"

Nelson has some change in hormones right now! Tonight he wanted me to take a picture of him and his dad - while he (Nelson) is necked. He was striking the pose and telling us his plan. Of course we were cracking up and I said well Nelson you have to put your hand infront of your pee pee .... We can't take pictures like that. I could get in trouble for sending that or even having that on my phone. He was all giggly and kept saying can't I just show part of it!? It's ok to send picture of our selves necked to our family!!! He's been acting weird about seeing girls in magazines lately too and he tells us "I realllllly like her" when he sees Eve in his new story bible!

Growing up is awesome!

Emma came to me after church and said she went to the big boys class (since she's three she changed classes and went to her first super kids church). She said "it was cool!" I said, it was cool? And she said "YEA it was AWESOME!"

Watching you grow up is so cute!

Nelson's reading!

For a whole now I thought Nelson probably could read and he would recognize words at time but I wasn't sure if he really was sounding out the word, but today he did it while we played with alphabet blocks! Yay!! We had a huge celebration!

Emma's Big Phrases

Emma asked to take a bath. I said yes. She very thoughtfully said Papi said "ages ago that I can take a bath"! "Ages ago" ... Seriously? How cute!

Sometimes we need help

Papi went to the store with the kids. When he came back he told me that a handyman came to him. He gave him his card and said, "If you ever need any help with anything I can help you". After he walked away Nelson's said, "That's so nice isn't it Papi? Sometimes I could really use some help!"

A "sifter"?

My conversation with a two year old went something like this at Walmart.

Emma: look mommy it's a sifter!
Mommy: a what?
Emma: A sifter! Maybe we can find something in the sand!

Emma's Three!

Emma's THREE! She speaks incredible, loves to laugh, cuddle, snuggle, twirl, twirl her hair, suck her thumb, as is a very good eater. She's my little baby and wants to do everything Nelson does!

Emma, for your birthday party you wanted a Hello Kitty Costume Tea Party! It was a ton of fun! You even sang the ABCs for us! What a treat!
